Terms of service
Last updated October 15, 2026
These terms govern your use of Wills For Texas, operated by The Craighead Law Firm, PLLC ("we," "us," or "the Firm"). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them.
1. What we provide
The site lets Texas residents prepare these documents by answering questions: a will, a statutory durable power of attorney, a medical power of attorney, a directive to physicians and family or surrogates (living will), and a HIPAA authorization. The software assembles your answers into the documents you choose. The website and its documents are not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. Unless you purchase attorney review and we accept the engagement, we do not give you legal advice and no attorney-client relationship exists.
2. Eligibility
You must be a Texas resident and legally able to sign each document you prepare under Texas law. You may prepare documents only for yourself. Each order covers documents for one person.
3. Your responsibilities
- Give complete and accurate information, and review every document before signing.
- Sign each document exactly as its signing instructions describe. We are not responsible for a document that is not signed, witnessed, or notarized correctly.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity in your account.
4. Attorney review
If you purchase attorney review, a licensed Texas attorney with The Craighead Law Firm, PLLC will review your answers and every document in your order prepared from them, as described on our pricing page. One flat fee covers the whole order. The scope of that limited engagement is set out in the attorney review agreement you accept at checkout, which lists the documents it covers. Attorney review does not include documents you did not order, tax or financial advice, or probate unless the Firm agrees in a separate writing.
The Firm built and operates the software that prepares the documents. If attorney review finds an error in your documents that the software caused, the Firm will correct it at no additional charge.
5. Information you enter, before any attorney-client relationship
Our attorneys and staff see the information you enter only to provide the service, keep the site running, or perform attorney review you purchase (see our privacy policy). Before you enter any information, we ask you to agree to the following, and you can't start documents without agreeing. Until the Firm accepts an attorney review engagement with you:
- you are not a client of the Firm, and the Firm has not agreed to represent you;
- the Firm will keep the information you enter confidential and will not use or reveal it except as the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct permit;
- the information you enter will not, by itself, prevent the Firm or its attorneys from representing anyone else, even someone whose interests are adverse to yours in a related matter, such as a family member, beneficiary, or spouse in a will contest or divorce; if you don't agree, contact the Firm before entering information; and
- the Firm will check for conflicts of interest before it accepts an attorney review engagement, and will refund your attorney review fee if it cannot accept it.
6. Payments and refunds
Prices are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card number. Because you can review a full draft before paying, purchases are generally non-refundable once documents have been released. If attorney review has not started, contact us to request a refund.
7. Storage
Your account keeps your answers, the documents prepared for you, and any files you upload so you can return to them. Online storage is a convenience and does not replace keeping your signed original documents in a safe place.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to the self-service product is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits any duty an attorney owes a client under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by Texas law. Venue for any dispute lies in Harris County, Texas.
